FinTech Global Research and Industry Alliance Center is officially established in NCCU on October 18th. Vice President Wang Lee-ling(王儷玲) served as chief operating officer and cooperated with Perobot to start the first “AI Pepper Lab” in Taiwan. NCCU President Edward Chou(周行一) indicated that NCCU, as the only university applying FinTech Global Research and Industry Alliance Project successfully, is supported by the policy provided by Ministry of Science and Technology.NCCU hopes to make progress and innovation in the field of Fintech in Taiwan through setting up FinTech GLORIA Center.

Since NCCU established FinTech Research Center last November, it has cooperated with different Fintech fields actively in the hope of building up cross-academics, industries and international platforms. Now NCCU has been allied with Stanford University in the U.S., University of Cambridge in U.K, Singapore Management University, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and kept trying to build partnership with enterprises overseas.

President Edward Chou stated in the FinTech GLORIA Center founding conference that when offering financial courses in NCCU, he found out the amount of investment in Taiwanese banking business was very low, which causes the gap between global market and Taiwan. NCCU expects to help with Taiwan’s FinTech industry innovation through realizing the goal of government’s policy.

Wang Lee-ling pointed out that NCCU FinTech Center has conducted many research projects associated with AI FinTech. After stationed in NCCU, Pepper can combine big data analysis and mechanics to enhance its visual and speech recognition function, which enable robots to distinguish the identities accurately and assist the transformation of Taiwanese digital bank along with Fintech development.

FinTech Research Center stated that artificial intelligence has already applied on financial service for many years. As the technology of cloud computing and big data models have got involved, robot investment service springs out in banks overseas recently. Therefore, Taiwan must build up basic AI engineer first when developing Fintech. NCCU hopes to create a stronger connection between AI Pepper Lab and Fintech through this alliance, and cultivating Taiwan artificial intelligence research to nourish financial innovation.
