🌏 Language is more than just vocabulary and grammar; it embodies deep cultural values and perspectives. Misunderstandings in intercultural communication often stem from tacit knowledge— the “knowledge beneath the iceberg” that is not explicitly taught but deeply ingrained in cultural contexts.

This lecture will explore the relationship between language and culture, illustrating how cultural differences impact language learning and communication. Using examples from Japanese, English, and Chinese, we will discuss the challenges faced in foreign language acquisition and intercultural interactions.
