About National Chengchi University
National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927 and has upheld the motto of “Harmony, Independence, Balance and Preeminence” for nearly 100 years of development and reform. Our present campus in Taipei opened in 1954 to meet the growing needs of higher education in Taiwan and to provide education for civil servants.
Today, NCCU is one of Taiwan’s leading public universities and research institutions. The university has 11 colleges, 34 departments, 48 graduate institutes, and 10 research centers. The university specializes in arts and humanities, economics, international affairs, linguistics, literature, mass media, management, politics, and social sciences. As its name implies, NCCU is especially renowned for its social sciences education, and its alumni have been influential in the Taiwanese government and politics, among other fields. NCCU maintains close ties with Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s national academy.
NCCU is an innovator in Taiwan’s higher education system. English-taught programs at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels bring together Taiwanese students and those from all around the world. NCCU’s extensive partnerships with universities around the world also connect our students with exchange students, visiting scholars, and academic cooperation opportunities.
About the International College of Innovation
Established in 2018, the International College of Innovation (ICI) is the first college in Taiwan that provides an innovative global studies education in English to exceptional Taiwanese and international students. ICI students earn a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies grounded in three tracks: global governance, sustainability & society, and data analytics. ICI’s multi-disciplinary approach allows students to access resources from all across NCCU, and a comprehensive and professional approach to education prepares students for promising careers in business, international affairs, and the social and data sciences. Upon graduation, it will be indicated that students have studied in a Bachelor Program in Global Studies, and they will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree. Their certificate will indicate the major track they have studied. Students who wish to pursue further education will find themselves well-prepared for graduate study, whether at the masters or doctoral levels.
ICI students are taught by our distinguished research and teaching faculty, who provide a top-tier education in English. Our faculty and administrators cultivate an innovative learning environment that combines proven scholarship with current research in an international setting. ICI is proud to bring bright, promising students from around the world to Taiwan and provide them with opportunities to study, understand, and explore Taiwan and Asia. International students have access to Mandarin Chinese language courses to enhance their time in Taiwan, as well as opportunities to pursue specialization in other Asian languages like Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese.
Each year, ICI accepts 25 domestic and 40 international students, creating a close-knit cohort of students. We invite leaders and stakeholders from the government, as well as the private and public sectors, to give lectures and seminars, mentor students, and help prepare them for life after graduation.
