Forget just sitting in lectures or writing reports—New Media Practicum puts you right in the studio, both in front of and behind the camera, turning your ideas into real productions.
Offered by GCIT, this course works closely with industry experts and focuses on technological innovation and media industry development. You won’t just learn about new media—you’ll actually produce it.
Throughout the semester, you’ll work in NCCU’s New Media Studio, learning the full process of virtual production. From real-time compositing and on-camera interviews to virtual avatars, AR camera tracking, and virtual camera motion, you’ll get hands-on experience with the tools shaping the future of media.
You’ll also explore how to use AI in content creation, collaborate with teammates in different production roles, and solve real problems on set—just like in a professional studio environment.
♦ By the end of the course, you won’t just have new skills—you’ll complete a professional video program using advanced media technologies. As a core course of the GCIT Media Program, this project becomes a strong, portfolio-ready piece that shows what you can really do.
