The International College of Innovation (ICI) and the Centre for Innovative Democracy and Sustainability (CIDS) were honored to welcome Professor Randolph T. Hester, a leading scholar in Ecological Democracy, for an in-depth exchange with our faculty and students. we would like to share this meaningful dialogue—highlighting ICI and CIDS’s continued commitment to sustainability, social design, and democratic innovation.

About Professor Randolph T. Hester

✨Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning University of California, Berkeley

✨B.A. Landscape Architecture and Sociology, North Carolina State University

• Research focuses on how citizens participate in spatial design and environmental planning

• Author of Design for Ecological Democracy (MIT Press), a landmark work in the field

Professor Hester is widely recognized as a pioneer in integrating sociology into environmental design and as a leading figure advancing Citizen Science, Environmental Justice, and Stewardship.
