GCIT is delighted to welcome Dr. Yu-Hao Lee from the University of Florida as our visiting scholar this June! ✨

Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor at the University of Florida and Research Director of the Center for Public Interest Communications. His research focuses on immersive media, virtual reality, media psychology, public interest communication, and emerging communication technologies. During his visit, he will lead two engaging events to share his latest research and professional insights.

【Lecture】Moral Dilemmas & Immersive Media


What happens when a story's moral failures are not the writer's fault, but your own?

Many theories have examined how morality contributes to our enjoyment or appreciation of entertainment media. This talk will focus on the role of morality in entertainment media and extend the discussion to how immersive media provides opportunities for moral dilemmas. Through my studies, I argue that interactive media affords authentic psychological responses and self-transcendent experiences that help us reflect on who we are and our relationship with others.

【Workshop】What is Public Interest Communication and Why Do We Need It Now

As the Research Director for the Center for Public Interest Communications, Dr. Lee will share his experiences working with foundations and nonprofit organizations outside academia.

This workshop will explore questions such as:

• How can communication scholars contribute our expertise to public interest?
• What are some of the challenges we face?
• How can we use rigorous research methods to solve real-world problems ?
