1949 年國共內戰結束後，大批大陸民眾隨政府遷入臺灣，形成「大陸遷台潮」。這股人口流動深刻改變了戰後臺灣的政治、經濟與文化結構——
政治上建立了以國民黨為核心的威權體制；
經濟上依靠美援與軍公教體系穩定社會秩序；
文化上則引發語言與省籍衝突，但也促進知識傳播與文化多元化。
這場遷徙最終塑造出台灣今日多元而複雜的社會樣貌。
After the Chinese Civil War ended in 1949, a large number of people from mainland China relocated to Taiwan along with the Nationalist government, forming what is known as the “Great Mainland Exodus.”
This massive migration profoundly reshaped postwar Taiwan’s political, economic, and cultural landscape—
Politically, it established an authoritarian system centered on the Kuomintang (KMT);
Economically, it relied on U.S. aid and the military-civil service structure to stabilize society;
Culturally, it sparked linguistic and provincial tensions while simultaneously fostering knowledge exchange and cultural diversity.
Ultimately, this migration played a defining role in shaping Taiwan’s modern, complex, and pluralistic society.
